Tim's Story
Tim Bish has always been interested in health and wellness; with a particular passion for helping people live their happiest lives through the fullest expression of themselves. At a young age Tim would accompany his grandfather to his stroke rehabilitation group classes and it is there that he began to understand that recovery happened physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
Tim’s interest in the human body: the way it functions, strengthens, and heals, was the starting place for his journey to wellness. First as a dancer, then as an advanced certified yoga teacher, as a specialized personal trainer, and as a licensed acupuncturist, Tim has spent decades pursuing physical wellness and balance.
As a successful professional dancer, Tim performed for over a decade in modern dance companies, on Broadway, with tour productions, and in various films and television programs. During his dance career Tim began studying yoga with the Jivamukti Yoga School where he deepen his understanding of the connection between the physical and subtle bodies. Today, he’s an advanced certified 800+ Jivamukti Yoga teacher and works with private clients and corporations.
Over the years, Tim’s body took some wear and tear. He underwent several surgeries stemming from dance-related injuries, and he relied on the power of acupuncture to promote his healing and overall wellness.
Acupuncture sparked a special interest for Tim. Acupuncture offered a robust system of physical and subtle body anatomy, similar that offer in yoga. Tim wanted to deepen his understanding of this connection, and began studied three styles of acupuncture and received his Master’s Degree in 2014 from the Tri-State College of Acupuncture.
In his final semester, Tim had a otoneurological surgery that changed the way he viewed his life and mission. With frightening and unexpected complications, Tim was faced with uncertainty and a host of foreign feelings and reactions. Although already interested in the mind-body connection, this unique and terrifying experience taught him the power of our thoughts and the need for a healthy, honest conversation around mental health and de-stigmatized solutions. Challenging though it was, he used this experience to influence his work with patients and specifically those under going or recovering from cancer treatments.
Tim started working in private practice immediately after graduating with a focus on orthopedic injuries and sports medicine. It was during this time that he realized there was a gap between the treatments and the activities people were doing away from the treatment. To better serve his patients, Tim became a certified personal trainer with NASM and later became a Corrective Exercise, Performance Enhancement, and Behavioral Change Specialist through NASM.
The study of behavior change, combined with the deep connection between the emotional/mental aspects of humans and the physical body offered by yoga and acupuncture, led Tim to pursue a certification in Men’s Deep Inner Work coaching. Tim recently completed the Men’s Wisdom Work coach training program and has begun working privately with clients to help them identify blocks and empower them with tools to help them lead the most fulfilling lives possible.
The culmination of all this study and experience is to help people step into their fullness and positively influence those with whom they interact. Tim believes that we can change the world by consciously engaging in our lives and allow that positive engagement to ripple outwards to those who surround us. He enthusiastically invites you along with him on this journey.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Tim moved to New York City to attend the NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where he earned a BFA in Dance.
